| I've got a note pad that i write all my army lists in then i spend time with the codex. i limit myself to what i have in my collection if i'm playing a game at home so the list writes itself. although when i go across to the Sultan club i can use some of their minatures as long as i put them back so it becomes a little harder. | |

| I tend to do mine quite simply in FOC order, here's a typical example I'm working on for a 2500pt game next week:
Daemon Prince, mark of Slanesh, wings. 155pts
Lucious the Eternal. 160pts
Greater Daemon. 100pts
Elites
6 Possessed, Icon of Slanesh, Champion. 186pts Rhino, dozer blade. 40pts
6 Chosen, Icon of Slanesh, Champion. 138pts Rhino, dozer blade. 40pts
6 Terminators, Icon of Slanesh, Reaper auto cannon, 2 combi meltas, champion with chainfist. 255pts
Troops
6 Noise Marines, 5 sonic blasters, 1 blastmaster, personal icon. 190pts
6 Noise Marines, 5 sonic blasters, 1 blastmaster, personal icon. 190pts
6 Summoned lesser daemons. 78pts
6 Summoned lesser daemons. 78pts
Fast Attack
6 Raptors, Icon of Slanesh, 2 melta guns, champ with twin claws. 200pts
Heavy Support
Defiler, Reaper auto cannon, extra close combat weapon. 150pts
Defiler, Reaper auto cannon, twin linked heavy flamer. 150pts
2 Obliterators. 150pts
Total: 2260
Possible additions:Noise Champions. Doom Sirens, Power Swords. +45ea.
Termy champ. +10pts ea.
Termy Combi weapons. 5pts ea
I'm working on it so there are some notes at the bottom.

| I know H knows how he writes his list, and i use the same method. Its a bit heavy the first time you use it but after a while it becomes second nature. So heres goes:
Once the list has been written fill in the blanks:
Number of troops - pax total not squads, so a full tac squad is 10 not one Number of vehicles Number of heavy weapons
no of shots @ 36" and over Strength 6/7/8/9/10 AP 2
Once its all filed in you can see at a glance at where your list is lacking and make any adjustments. Simples!
Did i forget anything H?

| I don't really have a structure around how I write lists, I tend to have an idea and work from there.
I'm currently looking into doing more SW but I quite fancy having them Blood Claw heavy so the army will include Swiftclaws, Skyclaws etc. I'm still toying around with the exact specifics but once I get started I'll pop a list up so you can see what I mean.
I've also pretty much just finished an all Khorne Daemon army, I've used all the SCs in the book and the basic premise for the list was that everything should be either in 8s or multiples of.
This is the basic list;
Skarbrand
Skulltaker on Juggernaught
2x 4 Bloodcrushers
2x 8 Bloodletters
1x 8 Fleshhounds (Karanak is included)
1 Soulgrinder
1500
at 1750 (hopefully it'll be finished this weekend) all I add is another unit of 8 Bloodletters and 1 more Soulgrinder.
I've only had a chance to use the 1500 point list once and really enjoyed it, hopefully I'll be able to get playing more over the next couple of months.

| Hehe, while you were busy writing this I was busy using your technique to write a list. Just hope that I can improve my tactics so that the list can perform. | |

| Just started rewriting my army list and just realised that what I call a list is probably the way you'd write a roster. Eg HQ Chaos Lord 125pts WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv Chaos Lord 6. 5. 4 4 3 5 3. 10 3+ Power Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Personal Icon, Frag & Krak Grenades
I pretty much carry in like this until I have the desired points

| I never thought of doing it Decados way; I suppose I could run it over what I posted earlier and see how it comes out. | |

| as ricky stated i use a system. the way itworks is i write 3 lists that i like the look of and then i compare them using the formula and the list that beats the others in the most number of sections is the one i choose. i then look at where the list wasn't as good as the others and try to tweak it so that it either matches or beats the other lists without compromising the original integrity of the list.
the full formula is troops vehicles/monsterous creatures heavy weapons (all the below up to kill points are shots per turn) st5 st6 st7 st8 st9 st10 ap3 ap2 ap1 blast melta flame rapid 30''+ shots 36''+ shots total no of heavy shots kill points no of combat capable units anti armour (units capable of killing this armour value). 10 11 12 13 14

| All I'm going to say Will is extra armour on your dreads and transports is a decent investment and dozer blades.
Just don't leave home without them!

| If you want to fight it or similar points mate then I'm sure we can arrange a game. My Emperors Children are being dusted off in the hope of a new 'dex later this year but I've never done double lash - it's not broken especially now with loads of anti psycher stuff out there. I'm hoping with FWs new unit type that I can start useing some FW stuff in tournies. | |

| iamnothere the list is nice the only mistake (though my fault for not explaining it) is the no of troops. this is the actual number of men in the list not just troop units. so your troops should be 47.
once i've written my lists like this i generally don't need to playtest them. they have always worked fine and in exactly the way i envisioned.

| It's a lot of effort but I can see why you'd use it. You can see where you're weak straight away. Changeing the trooops entry pretty much doubled my numbers lol. | |
